Fuel Savings

Did you know that more than 88 percent of trips in an average day are made in a personal vehicle?  And, 43 percent of those trips are made by people driving alone!  As the number of vehicles on the road increases, so do the amounts of particle pollutants and ground-level ozone ingredients in our air.

Viewer Tip: Try carpooling, using public transportation, biking, or walking to work or school just once per week.  Not only will you help reduce air pollution, but you will also save about 600 dollars per year in driving costs, and about three gallons of fuel for each day you don’t drive.  If you can avoid driving during “peak periods,” when traffic congestion is worst, you’ll save up to 28 gallons of fuel each year.
