Nature’s Air Conditioners
Did you know that Atlanta has a “Tree Protection Ordinance” to prevent the loss of trees around the city and protect mature trees? Not only do trees provide shade and lower temperatures on warm days, but they also help to clean pollutants from the air, protect ground water, and provide wildlife habitat!
Viewer Tip: You can cool the air around your home by planting a tree. Planting on the east and west sides of your home can help to shade you from heat during the mid-afternoon sun, decreasing your energy needs for air conditioning, and trees can help to insulate your home when the weather cools off! Your local home and garden center can help you choose trees that will thrive in your yard.
Seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall
