Climate Fact: Un-veiling Mt. Hood
Oregon’s highest peak, Mt. Hood, provides residents of the Portland Area with a familiar yet spectacular snow-capped vista. This view is changing, however. In the past 110 years, the seven largest of Mt. Hood’s eleven glaciers have each lost more than 30 percent of their masses. Sandy Glacier, which faces downtown Portland, has retreated by 60 percent during this period.
