Earth Gauge
Earth Gauge is an initiative by the National Environmental Education Foundation and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) to facilitate the evolution of broadcast meteorologists - highly trusted public figures - into “station scientists” who can expertly cover and relate basic environmental information to their viewers. Through the program, the National Environmental Education Foundation and the American Meteorological Society are:
- Providing education and training to help meteorologists “tell the story” to their viewers. We will soon provide meteorologists with a suite of on-line courses that address the links between weather and environment. Our first course, Watersheds: Connecting Weather to the Environment, was released in September 2006, in partnership with the Cooperative Program for Operational Meteorology, Education and Training (COMET).
-
Providing tools to help meteorologists deliver environmental information on-air, including the Earth Gauge e-newsletter.
