EPA’s SunWise Program and the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention remind Americans to practice sun-safe behaviors as they prepare to enjoy Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer. To increase awareness, the Council has designated the Friday before Memorial Day: “Don’t Fry Day.” Skin cancer is a largely preventable health issue; yet the incidence of melanoma (the most fatal of skin cancers) continues to rise significantly, at a rate faster than any of the seven most common cancers.
